I’ve never dived before. Where do I start?
Tell us that you are new to diving, along with your preferred travel period. Ask the proposed training provider to confirm course availability, entry requirements and who will deliver any instruction before you commit.
How long does it take to get Open Water certified?
Course timing depends on the provider and your progress. Confirm the full training schedule before planning travel. Any referral between instructors must be arranged in advance.
Do I need to be very fit to dive?
Diving can be physically demanding, and the demands vary with conditions. Swimming ability and comfort in the water do not by themselves establish fitness to dive.
Complete the provider’s current medical questionnaire and follow any requirement for a physician’s evaluation. If unsure, speak with a physician familiar with diving before taking part. A travel inquiry is not medical clearance.
Can I dive if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Discuss your vision needs with the training provider before the trip, including suitable mask options. For questions about contact lenses, eye conditions or recent treatment, seek individual advice from an eye-care professional familiar with diving. Do not assume one solution suits everyone.
I’ve never been on a liveaboard. Is it suitable for beginners?
Suitability depends on the route, conditions and operator’s training and experience requirements. Share your certification and recent diving with Maisara so the requirements for the proposed trip can be checked. A group place alone does not establish that its dives are suitable for you.
What is it like staying on a liveaboard?
A liveaboard combines accommodation on a vessel with a planned diving itinerary. The daily programme, guide arrangements and shore access depend on the operator and route.
Ask Maisara about partner-supplied options for your preferred period. The proposal must confirm the itinerary, availability, inclusions and price; a particular guide or group departure is not guaranteed.
What if I feel uncomfortable or want to leave the boat?
Ask the operator about the route, time at sea and arrangements for returning to shore before choosing a liveaboard. Do not assume you can leave the vessel whenever you wish.
If you feel unwell, tell the crew or instructor promptly. Discuss seasickness prevention or medicines with a healthcare professional familiar with diving before travel; do not assume tablets or patches will be available or suitable for you.
Do I need to bring my own diving equipment?
Rental equipment and inclusions vary by operator. Before booking, confirm the item list, sizes, charges and required personal equipment. Ask about fit and familiarisation; do not assume spare equipment is available.
What should I pack for a dive trip?
