I’ve never dived before. Where do I start?

How long does it take to get Open Water certified?
Usually 3–4 days. It includes theory, pool training, and your first real dives.
You can:
- Start at home (Sweden) and finish on your trip
- Or complete everything during your holiday

Do I need to be very fit to dive?
Not at all 😊
If you can swim and feel comfortable in the water, you’re good to go. Diving is calm, relaxed, and not physically demanding.
Can I dive if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Yes 👍
Most divers use contact lenses, or you can request a prescription mask. Easy solution either way.
I’ve never been on a liveaboard. Is it suitable for beginners?
It can be but really depends on the trip.
Some liveaboards are perfect for newer divers, while others require a bit more experience.

What is it like staying on a liveaboard?
It’s one of the best diving experiences you can have 🤿✨
You live on a boat for several days, dive multiple times per day, eat great food, and meet like-minded people.
And the best part?
👉 You can join Maisara’s group trips to travel together, dive together, and have a certified and experienced guide with you the whole time. Maisara takes groups regularly from Sweden to Egypt but also to other destinations. Just send message in Whatsapp asking for availability and if there are free spots left.
The earlier you book, the better chance you will have at securing your spot and affordable price.
What if I feel uncomfortable or want to leave the boat?
Liveaboards follow fixed routes, so leaving mid-trip is usually not possible. In case you get seasick, which some people do, especially on their first day, the boats are supplied with seasickness tablets and patches. Usually some rest and fluids will resolve the most issues.

Do I need to bring my own diving equipment?
No, everything can be rented easily.
Most people bring small personal items (like mask or computer), but it’s not required. There are usually spares also on the boat in case yours happens to fail.
But don’t worry, we’ll guide you on what makes sense for your trip 👌
What should I pack for a dive trip?
The basics:
- Swimwear 👙
- Sunscreen ☀️
- Certification card (if you have one)
- Light clothing
